Our next SAIL Workshop!!!

Thursday, October 14th 2010:

-
“Sustaining as Effective Army, Part 2: Retention.” Come learn the tricks of the trade and how to retain those members you spent so much time recruiting! Highlights from this workshop will include: team building, delegation, and motivation to keep your members going.  2-3pm, Sykes 209. (this will count as an INNOVATION workshop)

Thursday, October 14th 2010:

“LGBTQ 101 This is a one hour training session that provides participants with an overview of LGBTQA history, terms, and current issues. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. 3pm, Sykes Union 257. (This will count as a CONTEMPORARY ISSUES program)

2 SAIL Workshops for next week!!!

TUESDAY, October 5th 2010:
- Attend this SAIL Workshop, “How to be a Sustainable Student Leader,” to learn how to be more sustainable as a leader in your student organization. Be a little more green friendly and help save the earth while you’re running your club! 6-7pm, Sykes 210. (this will count as a GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY workshop)

Wednesday, October 6th 2010:
- This sail workshop is titled, “Communication Etiquette: Creating a Positive Image.” Learn how to communicate effectively and professionally through all forms of communication and technology. 12-1pm, Sykes 210. (this will count as a COMMUNICATION workshop)

Tuesday, September 21st 2010:

Learn how to“Stand Out with S.A.I.L. & a Co-Curricular Portfolio." In this SAIL workshop students will learn the “ins and outs” of S.A.I.L. and the CCP. Come learn what the requirements are for these programs, how they will benefit you, and how to get signed up. (this will count as a LEADERSHIP workshop) 3:30-4:30pm, Sykes 210.

Wednesday, September 22nd 2010:
- “Goal Setting and Achievement” will teach you how to clear the mental clutter & rapidly set and achieve your goals. By the conclusion of this workshop you will learn how to develop your personal goals, student organization goals and set up an action plan for achieving them.(this will count as a COMMUNICATION workshop) 7-8pm, Sykes 210.


Friday September 24th 2010:
- “Servant Leadership & Volunteerism” Attend this SAIL workshop to learn about how to become a servant leader and lead your student organization to success. Learn about volunteerism and how to do your part. (this will count as a GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY workshop) 1-2pm, Sykes 209.

Wednesday, September 15th 2010:
- SAIL Presents “Building an Effective Army, Part 1: Recruitment.” In this workshop you will learn how to inspire a shared vision, advertise your organization, recruit new members and generate buy in. (this will count as an INNOVATION workshop) 2-3pm, Sykes 209.

Thank you for visiting the SAIL Website for all the latest news! The schedule is not finalized yet for the semester, but will be up here within the first couple of weeks. Our first SAIL program will be on Monday September 13th 2010 from 1-2pm so mark your calendars!  More info to follow soon. Monday March 22nd:
- With national known author, educator, and speaker Robyn Ochs,
“Bisexuality: Myths and Realities” is a workshop that addresses the following questions: “What is bisexuality? Is there no such thing as bisexuality or is everyone really bisexual? Or is it more complicated than that? What does it mean to call yourself bisexual anyway? Why do some people such a hard time understanding this identity?” Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center, Women’s Center Club, Department of Women’s Studies, Office of Resident Life, Office of Social Equity, Panhellenic Community, and SGA.  4:30pm in 252 Sykes Union.

Monday March 22nd:

“Beyond Binaries: Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum” is a workshop that addresses the following questions: “How do we assigned labels to our complicated and unique experiences? What is the relationship between experience and self-identity? What is the relationship between self-identity and the way others see us? What are the different experiences of identity? If you're looking to get involved and see what WCU has to offer you come to the STUDENT ORGANIZATION FAIR! Wednesday January 27th from 11am-3pm over 60 student organizations will set up tables in Sykes Union Ballrooms to recruit new members. It's the perfect opportunity to check out student organizations and see what you might be interested in! All clubs and organizations are encouraged to participate in the FIESTA theme as the top three winners will receive prizes! :)

WCU Haiti Relief Efforts- Joining caring people around the world to help those affected.
--Groups and individials are encouraged to donate what they can
--Be creative with fundraising
--We have an SSI acount for volunteer projects- it's SSI 450. Checks can be made payable to SSI 450 and sent to the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs, 238 Sykes and we will deposit. If you make a deposit at the ticket window, specify HAITI on the deposit slip.
--All money collected will be donated to a reputable charity or in a few weeks we may finda specific need. These charities will provide immediate relief: food, safe water, and health care items.

PLEASE INFORM the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Progrmas if you are sponsoring a fundraising event. We want to  keep a record of all relief projects. Please contect the Office of Service-Learning and Volunteer Programs if you have any questions or want to borrow donation canisters. 610-436-3379.

There is a Women in Leadership and Service Scholarship available!! The award this year is in the amount of $500. The deadling for applications is December 1, 2009.
